Work in Berlin

I haven’t posted much, or anything, about my work in Berlin. My research is going very well, but I’m often in archives where I can’t take photographs. For the first several weeks, I worked exclusively in the Visual Art department of the Akademie der Kuenste. This past week, however, I had the chance to work in several different museums and archives, so I at least took photos of the buildings themselves.

The Akademie der Kuenste on Luisenstrasse
The stairs up to my archives in the AdK
Deutsches Historisches Museum archives
One requests materials, then they are brought to this room for controlled viewing
The Graphische Sammlung of the Maerkisches Museum is housed in the Ephraim Palais
...but to get there, one has to go to a hidden courtyard and determine which of the many unmarked, locked doors might be the right one.
Last day of the week: working in the written archives of the Akademie der Kuenste, around the corner from my usual workplace

  1. What type of research are you doing? I just recently completed my MA degree in art history and spent time in various libraries and archives for my thesis project. My research interests are nineteenth and twentieth century American art and contemporary sculpture.
