It’s here. After years of work – writing, editing, revising, editing, and revising some more – the book is here. It was officially out of my hands at the end of June but it didn’t seem done – not even when I saw the phone picture of my editor’s advance copy – until it arrived in the mail.

Once again, I have to thank the many artists and writers who contributed their time and talents to this volume. It’s by no means a comprehensive survey but it helps to fill a significant gap in scholarship on the maternal in art around the world.
