Now that summer is here, it’s time to start thinking about the Frogman’s summer workshops. Lloyd Menard, aka Frogman, started these workshops in South Dakota 29 years ago. Originally set in the Black Hills, they now take place in the awesome printmaking facilities at the University of South Dakota, Vermillion. This will be my third summer going, and I’ll be traveling with a friend who has been to 15 or more of these. I’ve taken Japanese woodblock printing with Mary Brodbeck, “Rollin’ with Relief” with Mark Sisson (printmaker and unicyclist extraordinare), and this summer I’m taking a bookmaking class with Bonnie Stahlecker, who is, I hear, the queen of bookmaking, having taught it to almost everyone else who now teaches it in the U.S.
And, along with the class, our Tempus Fugit portfolio will be on display at the I.D. Weeks library on campus (provided that our remaining stragglers get their prints in soon!–knock on wood).
